Bed and Breakfast Weekend

Hello everyone! This weekend I whisked my husband away from Madison and out to the Mississippi River to McGregor, Iowa. It's about 2 hours away from us, so not too far, but far enough. We're staying at the Stauer House on Main Street which is right next to the river and gorgeous parks.

The bed and breakfast is so cute! We got in late last night so I just have a few pictures of our room, but I'm going to sneak around later to grab some more.

This is our room - not super large, but it was only $89 per night. For a B&B basically on the river right in downtown by everything, that's fantastic!

This is a little changing room off of the main bedroom. Our bathroom is a private, detached bath down the hall - which is also super cute. :)

Now that we've enjoyed a scrumptious breakfast of spinach quiche, cinnamon-almond pancakes, fresh fruit, coffee cake and all the coffee I can drink, we're going to go pick apples at an orchard across the river back in Wisconsin. Then we'll have a picnic lunch in the bluffs around the river. For our afternoon entertainment we're going wine tasting! There's a winery a few miles north of our B&B that is having a little fall festival this afternoon where there will be live music and free wine tasting. I think that's pretty much perfect.

Lastly, but oh-so-definitely-not-leastly, this B&B is filled (and I mean filled!) with quilts. And, I think all of them have been hand quilted. I am amazed and I am going to photograph each one before I leave and talk to the owner about them. I think she makes them all! I found one in the living room on a quilt frame, 1/2 hand quilted. Whoever is doing this all is soooo talented! Here are some pictures of the quilt on our bed, just as a teaser. I'll be back with more from the weekend later on. Have a great weekend everyone!
